Priority use of the Library classroom/lab is for:
(1st) library instruction sessions taught by instruction librarians at the request of departmental faculty
(2nd) faculty taught library instruction sessions coordinated through the
library instruction coordinator (limit two per course per semester)
(3rd) library/administrative meetings
(4th) non-library instruction sessions/meetings at the discretion of the instruction coordinator
Departmental faculty may arrange for individual class sessions by contacting the
Library Instruction (LI) Coordinator at (334) 244-3994 OR
libraryinstruction@aum.edu. Reservations for library instruction sessions are
made on a first-come, first-serve basis and confirmations are sent via email by the
instruction coordinator.
a. The sessions are limited to instruction in library use or research skills.
b. AUM faculty may schedule an additional session in the lab in order to assist their students with research. This additional class must be scheduled with the LI Coordinator. Reservations for non-library instruction sessions are at the discretion of the LI Coordinator based on the academic calendar and the number of expected library instruction sessions.
During the first ten weeks of any semester, non-library instruction use of the lab
is prohibited to accommodate the heavy number of requests received.
Scheduled sessions are posted on the library's website @ http://aumnicat.aum.edu/instruction/schedule, at the information/reference desk and the
entrance of the lab.
Instruction librarians or faculty who reserve the lab for an instruction session,
training or a meeting are responsible for the room and any equipment in the room
during the session.
Training is required for use of the lab. Proper procedures in turning on and off the
instructor’s module are posted and must be followed.
Any professional library associations or groups whose conference, workshops or meetings fall within the AUM library mission, (e.g. Solinet) may be allowed to use the classroom free provided that a minimum of two AUM library staff are allowed to attend the workshop at no cost.
