What's New In The Library

AUM Library Five Year Plan

Library Budgets

In an effort to provide the faculty and students of AUM with better information regarding the Library, we have now made the Library's O&M budget and its book allocation budget available.  To see the budget, click the following link:

Universal Borrowing

Five libraries within the state have agreed to facilitate the sharing of resources with patrons of the other libraries. The libraries participating in the Alabama Libraries Lending Exchange Service (ALLIES) are AUM, Auburn University, Jacksonville State University, the University of Alabama, and the Sterne Library at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

The ALLIES program will allow you to either visit the libraries at these institutions and check books out with your university id card or photo id, or to request the materials directly from the other library by going in to the AUM Library catalog and clicking on the “Remote” button at the top of the screen. From the drop-down menu, choose the library you wish to search, and then click the “Connect” button at the top of the screen.

After you are connected, search for the book you want and click on the title. Click the “Request” button at the top of the screen. A menu will come up for you to fill in your last name and your university id number. Once you have filled that information in, click on “Submit.” The book you requested will be sent to the Circulation department in the AUM Library where you can pick the items up (please mention to the staff that they came via Universal Borrowing).

You may borrow circulating books only, except for those that are on reserve or for which there are already holds placed. Journals, videos, and micro format materials are not lent with Universal Borrowing at the present time.

Books circulate for 28 days, or until the end of the term, whichever comes first.

Through ALLIES, you may borrow up to 100 books from the participating libraries at a time.   The amount that you have borrowed from the AUM Library does not count against this total.

You may renew the books one time for 28 days. Click on the “Patron” button, then log-in and select the titles you wish to renew and click on “Renew.”

Group Study Room

The Library has developed a room for group study. It is located on the 5th floor, in room 501. The room is available to all students and is unlocked and available on a first come, first serve basis. For questions about the room or if you need assistance, please contact the staff at the Reference desk.

The Library staff looks forward to serving you. Please let us know how we can assist you.
