EBSCO eBook Collection Usage
EBSCO eBook Collection includes electronic books held by the AUM Library. Access to titles is available through the Library’s online catalog as well as through the EBSCO eBook Collection homepage. The Library has access to five shared collections, purchased through the Southeastern Library Information Network (SOLINET). The Library has recently purchased a software interface that will allow our students easier off-campus access. They will no longer be required to come in to the Library to create an account before they can view the titles from off-site.Electronic books remain valuable for the Library. This year, however, marked the first decrease in usage (5%) since the Library began adding e-books. Possibilities for this include the fact that because these are consortial purchases, they are not updated. Materials in Business and Information Systems may have gone out of date and no longer have the value that they once did.
The busiest subject areas of the collections held by AUM include Business, Economics and Management first, followed by Social Sciences (General), and Literature, which has supplanted Computer Science. The rankings for the past two years are listed below:
2005-2006 2004-2005 1. Business, Economics & Management 1. Business, Economics & Management 2. Social Sciences: General 2. Social Sciences: General 3. Literature 3. Computer Science 4. Computer Science 4. Literature 5. Medicine 5. Medicine
