Dissertation Abstracts and Economics Literature are available electronically through the OCLC FirstSearch database. The Dissertation Abstracts database provides bibliographic access to Dissertations in all areas of study.

Use of these two databases, however, has been declining. Searching in Dissertation Abstracts has declined by 48%, while in EconLit, the decline was smaller, only 16%.  However, access is provided by the number of block searches purchased by the Library. The Library purchases a block of 500 searches, which usually lasts a year and a half. The cost per search is approximately twenty-seven cents, providing the faculty and students with a cost-effective means of accessing these valuable databases.
