Auburn University at Montgomery Library
Government Documents Department
Regional Depository LibraryThe Auburn University Montgomery Library became a Federal Depository library in 1971 and in 1976 was designated as Alabama’s second Regional library. The Department receives 100% of the publications, maps and electronic data distributed by the Government Printing Office. These publications are available to anyone who desires access to them.
The Documents collection is housed on the third floor of Phase I of the Library and is arranged according to the Superintendent of Documents classification system (SuDocs). The collection is made up of print volumes and microfiche, maps, posters, pamphlets, CD-ROMs, disks and DVDs. Government Publications cover a wide range of topics and are valuable resources for research. The staff of the Government Documents Unit and the General Reference staff provide assistance and instruction on the use of the collection.
To locate government publications at the AUM Library, use the Library Catalog to find items distributed after 2000. To locate earlier publications, use the specialized indexes in the Government Documents area. Some electronic indexes that may be helpful include:
- Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (CGP)
- FDsys (The GPO's Federal Digital System)
- WorldCat
For assistance with the documents collection at AUM, please come by, call or email. We will be happy to be of assistance.
